All the 50 parliamentary committees have been constituted within the 10 sittings of the maiden session of the 11th parliament.
The 11th parliament went into its maiden session on January 30, and the 50 committees were formed unanimously within only 10 sittings after the formation process started on February 3, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury told the House on Wednesday.
She thanked Leader of the House and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina for her patience and giving long time in the committee formation process.
Seven of the parliamentary committees were formed on Wednesday, after Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury placed separate proposals in the House.
The MPs endorsed the proposals through voice votes.
Among these seven committees, the speaker was made chairperson of the Business Advisory Committee, the Standing Committee of Privileges and the Committee on Petitions.
Of the four other committees, Dabirul Islam from Thakurgaon 2 constituency was made chairman of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs Ministry, while Meher Afroz head of Parliamentary Standing Committee on Women and Children Affairs Ministry.
Besides, ASM Feroz was made chairman of the Committee on Public Undertakings, and Deputy Speaker Fazle Rabbi Miah the head of the Library Committee.
The heads of these committees are ruling Awami League MPs.
