The 11th parliament has constituted five parliamentary standing committees.
They are: House Committee, and the committees on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry, Planning Ministry, Defence Ministry, and Land Ministry.
Speaker Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury formed the House Committee on Monday, with Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury as its chairman.
The chief whip proposed the names for the four other committees in favour of the Leader of the House, Sheikh Hasina.
The House passed the proposals by voice vote.
Abdul Matin Khasru will lead the Standing Committee on Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Ministry; Abul Kalam Azad, the Standing Committee on Planning Ministry; Subid Ali Bhuiyan, the Standing Committee on Defence Ministry; and Moqbul Hossain will lead the Standing Committee on Land Ministry.
