BGB seized the shipment during a raid. However, they could not arrest anyone involved.
BGB Jessore 26 Commander Mohammad Jahangir Hossain said: “We acted on a tip-off that a shipment avoiding duties was en route to Jessore.”
A BGB team took position on Keshabpur highway. Upon seeing the BGB team, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the truck behind.
Jahangir also said: “After searching the truck, we found the sarees. The seized goods are being kept at BGB Jessore headquarters.”
BGB is making a list of the goods at the moment, he added.
