The education ministry has arranged the programme. Scheduled to start at 11am, the human chain will last for 15 minutes.
Besides, the educational institutions will hold discussion meetings on October 20 on the issue.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid announced the programme at a press briefing held in Krishibid Institution Bangladesh at Khamar Bari in Dhaka's Farmgate area on Saturday morning.
“A committee will be formed to deal the security of female students and its duties include floating warning to suspicious males and handing the culprits over to the law enforcers,” the minister said.
He termed those who commit violence against women enemies of the society.
The press briefing was called in the wake of the recent attack on 26-year-old Khadiza Akter Nargis, daughter of Masuk Miah of Biswanath upazila in Sylhet. Assistant Secretary of Shahjalal University of Science and Technology unit Chhatra League Badrul Alom hacked her while she was on her way back home from college.
Later, arrested Badrul pleaded his guilty in a statement to police in which he said he committed the crime after Khadiza rejected his love proposal.
