A worker was rescued from an export container at the entrance of the Chittagong port here on Monday, reports UNB.
Confirming the incident, Lt Col Abdul Gaffar, director of port security, said a day labourer named Babul Tripura, 35, was rescued by dock workers from a container, which was scheduled to be shipped to Singapore, upon hearing screams.
Later he was taken to Chittagong Medical College and Hospital, he said.
The container, owned by private company Carriage Container Yard, came at the port from Sitakunda around 4am, according to the port logs.
When contacted, Abul Kashem, a contractor of the company, said the worker might have fallen asleep inside the container while uploading goods in the night.
