According to local sources, Ziaur Rahman, 27, son of UP member Abul Kalam died after a truck ran over him in the afternoon.
On information, agitated locals went to the spot and blocked the highway over the incident causing a long tailback.
Zakir Hossain, officer-in-charge of Shaestaganj police station, said police seized the truck but its driver managed to flee the scene.
