Special Response Battalion (SRB)-6 arrested Sheikh Asif Hossain, 28, one of the accused in the murder case of North Western University student Md Ajmul Hossain, in Gopalganj early Monday, taking the total number of arrests in the case to 4.
Lieutenant Colonel Nistar Ahmed, commander of SRB-6, confirmed the information.
He said a joint operational team of SRB-6 Special Company and Bhatiapara Camp conducted a special operation based on secret information at Bhatiapara Golchattar under Kashiani police station in Gopalganj at around 2:30am on September 22.
During the operation, the team arrested Sheikh Asif Hossain, 28, one of the accused in the Ajmul murder case filed under Harintana police station in Khulna Metropolitan.
He is the son of Sheikh Miraj of Sanatankathi in Paikgacha upazila of Khulna.
The arrested accused was handed over to Harintana police of Khulna Metropolitan Police for legal action.
