KAU new VC assumes office

New vice-chancellor pledged improving education, research, innovation, and university governance standards

Professor Dr Md Asaduzzaman Sarkar officially assumed office as the vice-chancellor of Khulna Agricultural University (KAU) on Tuesday, pledging to strengthen the institution's education, research, innovation and governance.

Teachers, students, officers and staff welcomed the newly appointed vice-chancellor with flower as he joined the university.

After taking charge, Prof Sarkar reviewed the university's administrative activities and exchanged views with teachers, officers and employees. He called on all stakeholders to work together to further enhance the university's academic standards and institutional development.

Addressing the university community, he described KAU as a promising centre for agricultural higher education and research in Bangladesh. He said his priorities include improving the quality of education and research, expanding international collaboration, promoting technology-driven agricultural education and producing skilled graduates capable of meeting both national and global demands. He also sought the cooperation of the university community in achieving these goals.

Prof Sarkar is a professor in the Department of Agricultural Extension Education at Bangladesh Agricultural University. He earned his master's degree with first-class first distinction before completing another master's degree at Yamaguchi University and a PhD in Bio-Production Science from Tottori University in Japan.

He has held several key academic and administrative positions and served as a visiting professor and postdoctoral researcher at leading universities and research institutions in Japan and China.
