Health authorities conducted a drive against three private hospitals in Rangpur city on Monday and fined them a total of Tk 4 lakh for multiple violations, including operating without valid licenses, lack of doctors, and the use of expired medicines in operating theaters.
The operation carried out in the Dhap area was led by Dr. Mohammad Ibrahim Titon, Deputy Director of the Hospital Branch of the Directorate General of Health Services, along with Executive Magistrate Nusrat Ara.
During inspections of Fast Cure Hospital, Lab Aid Clinic and Nursing Home, and Amar Desh Hospital, officials found that none of the facilities had doctors on duty. Instead, services were being run by nurses and support staff. They also discovered that operating theaters lacked essential equipment and oxygen supplies, while several medicines used for surgical procedures had expired.
Authorities further found that none of the hospitals had renewed their licenses since 2020 and were operating illegally. The hospitals were ordered to renew their licenses and ensure adequate equipment, medicines, and manpower within two months.
