A day-long job fair was held at a convention center at Kadirganj in Rajshahi city on Saturday.
A total of 27 government and private organizations and more than 300 job seekers participated in the fair.
It was jointly organized by three social organizations, including "Proyas", under the "RAISE" project with financial and technical support from the Palli Karma-Sahayak Foundation (PKSF).
There was high demand for skilled workers at the stalls of participating organizations. In particular, applications were collected from job seekers for recruitment as IT specialists, salesmen, and computer operators.
Based on their qualifications, candidates submitted their CVs and participated in oral interviews (viva). After screening and the viva, about 50 percent of the candidates were given jobs on the spot.
The organizers said the fair was mainly organized with the aim of directly connecting trained youth with various employment-oriented institutions.
The event was chaired by Nazim Uddin Mollah, Executive Director of Shatoful Bangladesh. The chief guest was Tuktuk Talukder, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Education and ICT) of Rajshahi.
