Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB-6) have arrested the main suspect in a murder case involving the burning death of a woman in Dumuria upazila of Khulna.
The accused, 29-year-old Johny Gazi, was detained on Saturday night during a raid at a tea stall in Kathaltala Bazar based on confidential information, RAB-6 officials said.
Johny poured petrol on his wife Bithi Akter, and set her on fire inside their home on May 5 following an argument stemming from a family dispute.
Neighbors took her to Dumuria Upazila Health Complex before she was transferred to Khulna Medical College Hospital. She later died while being taken to Dhaka for advanced treatment.
The victim’s father filed a murder case, and the suspect was handed over to police for further legal action.
