The Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) organized an awareness rally titled ‘Dengue Prevention Awareness Rally-2026’ on Saturday to raise public awareness about dengue prevention.

The rally began at 11:00am in front of Nagar Bhaban and passed through Darikharbona More and Kadirganj before returning to the Nagar Bhaban premises.

RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton attended the programme as the chief guest. Following the rally, he addressed a brief gathering at Nagar Bhaban.

Speaking on the occasion, Mahfuzur Rahman Riton described dengue as a deadly mosquito-borne disease that can be prevented through public awareness and collective action.

“Let us all play an active role in preventing dengue and keeping our families and beloved city safe,” he said.

The RCC administrator said the city corporation had already taken extensive preparations to combat dengue and would continue its efforts to build a dengue-free Rajshahi.

“Alongside the activities of the city corporation, residents must keep their homes, yards and surrounding areas clean to prevent mosquito breeding,” he added.

He urged city dwellers to remove stagnant water from their premises and eliminate potential mosquito breeding grounds.

Riton further said that the city corporation was working tirelessly to ensure better civic services and maintain a clean city. He noted that RCC had previously implemented various initiatives to tackle measles and rubella and had now undertaken several measures to prevent dengue.

As part of the preventive campaign, a two-week mosquito-control drive using fogger machines will be launched before the onset of the monsoon season.

Among others, RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Executive Magistrate Nazmul Alam, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Md Mamun, Superintending Engineer Ahmad Al Moin, Chief Health Officer Dr AAM Anjuman Ara Begum, city corporation officials and employees, CDC members, ward secretaries, health workers, and volunteers from the Red Crescent and BD Clean participated in the rally.
