A young driver lost his life after the tractor overturned and plunged into the Padma River while ploughing farmland along the riverbank in Charbhadrasan upazila of Faridpur.
The deceased, Joy Biswas, 20, was the son of Golam Ali Biswas of Shahbazpur village in Shailkupa upazila of Jhenaidah.
According to police and local residents, Joy had been working as a tractor operator for Mohammad Ali, a farmer from Balurghat village under Char Jhaukanda Union. He had been cultivating Aman paddy fields in the area for the past two days using a tractor.
The accident occurred on Thursday night while Joy was ploughing land near the bank of the Padma River. The tractor is believed to have lost control and rolled into the river, leaving the driver trapped underneath the vehicle.
Local residents spotted parts of the tractor protruding from the water and alerted authorities. A rescue team from Charbhadrasan Fire Service launched an operation and recovered Joy’s body at approximately 11:00 am on Friday.
