Police recovered the bodies of a woman and two children from the second floor of the Barguna Zilla Parishad Dak resthouse at around 4:30 pm on Wednesday.
The deceased woman was identified as Smriti Rani, wife of Dulal Roy of the Kalibari area of Barguna town.
Barguna Police Station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Alim said multiple police teams are working to unravel the mystery of the incident.
The identities of the two deceased girls could not be confirmed immediately. Police, however, suspect they are her children.
Smriti Rani worked as a part-time sweeper at the resthouse.
According to police and local sources, cleaning staff of the resthouse first spotted the bodies in two adjacent rooms in the afternoon and informed police.
Later, members of Barguna Police Station and the Detective Branch (DB) reached the spot and recovered the bodies.
Upon receiving the news, District Council Administrator Nazrul Islam Mollah and Additional Superintendent of Police (Crime) Mohammad Ibrahim inspected the scene.
The bodies were sent to the Barguna General Hospital morgue for autopsy. Details will be known after the investigation is completed, the OC added.
