A young man was killed after allegedly being attacked with a sharp weapon by his friend in Ashulia on the outskirts of Dhaka.
The incident took place late Sunday night in Konabari area of Shimulia Union in Ashulia. The matter was confirmed on Monday morning by Ashulia Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mohammad Tarikul Islam.
The deceased, Md Parvez Mia, 26, was the son of Azahar Ali from Runigaon village under Nakla Police Station in Sherpur district. He had been living in a rented house owned by Haji Zainal Abedin in Shimulia Union, Ashulia.
According to police, Parvez was invited to the house of his friend Shahadat in Shimulia Union on Sunday night. At one stage, an argument broke out between the two, during which Shahadat allegedly attacked Parvez on the face and head with a sharp weapon.
Locals later rescued Parvez in a bloodied condition and rushed him to KPC Specialized Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
OC Mohammad Tarikul Islam said the body has been sent to Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
