Update : 21 Apr 2026, 01:46 PM

Police have recovered the bloodied bodies of three individuals from a remote forested hill in Baharchhara union under Teknaf upazila of Cox’s Bazar.

The bodies were found around 10:30am on Tuesday, from a hill area of North Shilkhali.

Police said one of the victims died at the scene, while two others succumbed to their injuries while being taken to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital.

The deceased were identified as Mujibur Rahman, Nur Boshir and Rabiul Awal. All three were residents of Shilkhali village in Baharchhara.

Teknaf Model police station Officer-in-Charge Saiful Islam said the bodies were recovered from the hill area. He added that the incident is suspected to be linked to abduction and human trafficking, and an investigation is underway.

Locals reportedly claimed that the victims were previously accused of involvement in abduction and trafficking activities, though police said these claims are being verified.

Baharchhara Union Parishad Chairman Amzad Hossain Khokon said the bodies bore marks of sharp weapon injuries and head trauma, suggesting the killings may have stemmed from a dispute.

Rather of Rabiul Awal, Ruhul Amin, said his son was called out by Mujibur the night before and later found dead on the hill.

Locals also said armed abduction gangs have long been active in the hilly areas of Teknaf.
