A mobile court has fined a man Tk 50,000 for producing adulterated molasses in Kotalipara upazila of Gopalganj on Saturday.
The drive was conducted in Kolabari village under Kolabari union, where Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) and Executive Magistrate Sagufata Haque led the drive. During the operation, the court fined Chayan Sarkar, son of Ramesh Sarkar, for his involvement in producing adulterated molasses.
In addition to the fine, approximately 15 maunds of adulterated molasses were destroyed by being dumped into water.
Speaking on the matter, UNO Sagufata Haque said that the drive was carried out based on information about the production of adulterated molasses in the area. She added that such anti-adulteration drives will continue in the future as part of ongoing efforts to ensure food safety.
