A groom, Yusuf Ali, 30, made a grand entrance from Sylhet to Sadullapur in Gaibandha by helicopter for his big day, leaving locals wide-eyed.
Children, women, and men gathered to catch a glimpse, some recording videos, others snapping selfies to remember the sky-high arrival.
Yusuf Ali, son of Ismail Ali from Pakichiri village in Bishwanath Upazila, Sylhet, runs a business in Qatar. The bride, Abdia Akter, 22, hails from Hamindpur village in Jamalpur Union, Sadullapur Upazila, and is the daughter of Nure Alam.
Locals said Yusuf touched down at a rice mill yard in Jamalpur Union around noon on Monday. From there, he took a microbus for the short half-kilometer ride to Abdia’s house. After tying the knot, the newlyweds took to the skies again, returning to Sylhet by the helicopter.
Relatives of the groom said that Yusuf Ali had dreamed of arriving by helicopter for his wedding since childhood—and that dream was finally fulfilled.
Jamalpur Union Parishad chairman Kausar Ahmed confirmed the arrival.
The bride’s father, Nure Alam, said he was pleased to see his daughter being taken to her in-laws’ house by helicopter and requested everyone’s prayers for the bride and groom.
