Over the past three days, extensive vehicle movement has occurred on the Padma Bridge, and a significant amount of toll has been collected.

During this time, compared to the previous year, new records have been created in both vehicle crossing and toll collection.

On Tuesday (March 17), Wednesday (March 18), and Thursday (March 19)—during these three days—119,682 vehicles crossed through the Mawa and Jajira ends of the Padma Bridge.

This year, Tk13.21 crore in tolls was collected. In 2025, during the same period, this number was Tk12.78 crore. As a result, toll collection has also significantly increased this year.

Deputy Director and Public Relations Officer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority Md Masud Rana Shikdar, and Executive Engineer of the Padma Bridge Site Office Abu Sad Niloy, confirmed this information.

According to the information, on March 17, 38,517 vehicles crossed the bridge, and Tk4.18 crore in tolls was collected. On March 18, 41,885 vehicles moved, and Tk4.54 crore in tolls was collected. On March 19, against the crossing of 39,280 vehicles, Tk4.48 crore in tolls was collected.

Meanwhile, a press release from the Bridge Authority on Friday stated that due to the well-planned preparations and integrated management taken on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr, it has been possible to achieve record vehicle crossings and toll collection on the Padma Bridge.

At the same time, new milestones for the highest number of vehicles moving in a single day and the highest toll collection via the Padma Bridge have also been surpassed.

Director (Administration) of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority Altaf Hossain Sheikh informed that by keeping multiple lanes active at the toll plaza, high-speed vehicle crossing is being ensured.

Consequently, the suffering during the Eid journey has decreased compared to before.

He further added that there is no traffic congestion in front of the Padma Bridge North Police Station this time. Therefore, the journey in the Dhaka-Mawa Expressway and bridge area has become comfortable.

Incidentally, since the opening of the Padma Bridge, new records are being continuously created in toll collection and vehicle movement during Eid-centric periods.
