A father and his son were killed after a drum truck hit their motorcycle in the Baneshwar Kolahat area of Puthia upazila in Rajshahi. The accident occurred on the Rajshahi–Natore highway around 1:30pm on Wednesday.
Following the incident, angry locals set the truck on fire.
The deceased were identified as Kawsar Imam, 35, and his six-year-old son Redwan Hossain.
According to eyewitnesses, the father and son were travelling from Baneshwar to their home in Charghat when their motorcycle collided head-on with a truck. Both died on the spot.
After the accident, agitated locals seized the truck and set it ablaze.
Mozammel Kazi, officer-in-charge of the Paba Highway Police Station, said: “A father and his son were killed in a road accident. The truck has been seized. Efforts are underway to arrest the driver and the helper. Legal action will be taken in this regard.”
