A bus caught fire in the Board Bazar area of Gazipur City Corporation after it collided with a motorcycle on Friday morning.
The Bangladesh Fire Service and Civil Defence said the incident took place at around 7:45am on Friday. Two fire service units brought the blaze under control after nearly 45 minutes of effort.
The motorcycle rider was injured in the incident.
Hiron Mia, station officer of the Bhogra Modern Fire Service station in Gazipur, said a bus hit a motorcycle coming from the opposite direction in the Board Bazar area. The bus was travelling from Tangail to Dhaka with passengers on board.
As the motorcycle became trapped under the bus, friction with the road triggered the fire. Firefighters arrived at the scene and extinguished the flames at around 8:45 am.
He added that the number of passengers on the bus was low and they were able to get off quickly. The incident caused temporary disruption to traffic, but normal movement resumed after police and local people helped remove the damaged bus from the road.
