Comilla district administration has undertaken extensive security measures to ensure the fair, peaceful and impartial conduct of the 13th National Parliament elections.
Around 50 lakh voters are expected to cast their ballots in 11 parliamentary constituencies across the district. To maintain law and order, a total of 26,334 law enforcement personnel will be deployed at approximately 1,500 polling stations.
Comilla Superintendent of Police (SP) Md Anisuzzaman disclosed the information while briefing police and Armed Police Battalion (APBN) members at the Comilla District Police Lines on Wednesday afternoon.
According to the SP, the deployed forces will include 3,979 police officers, 2,040 army personnel, 400 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) members, and 19,383 Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) members. Additionally, 98 executive and judicial magistrates will remain on duty to oversee election-related activities, reports BSS.
Addressing police personnel, SP Anisuzzaman instructed all officers to keep their body-worn cameras activated while on duty.
He directed them to immediately inform the respective presiding officers in case of any irregularities, complaints or objectionable situations.
Emphasizing professionalism, he urged members of the force to work diligently to change any previous negative perceptions about the police.
Deputy Commissioner and Returning Officer Md Reza Hasan said that 73 executive magistrates and 25 judicial magistrates will be deployed across the 11 constituencies to ensure overall security on election day. In addition, 55 army platoon army, 39 BGB platoons and 24 mobile teams of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) will be in the field.
