Huzaifa Afnan, 9, injured by bullets allegedly fired from Myanmar, is being transferred from Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) to Dhaka for advanced medical care.

She is set to be admitted to the National Institute of Neurosciences and Hospital in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.

An ambulance carrying Huzaifa left CMC Hospital for Dhaka at around 4:30pm Tuesday

Dr Saiful Islam of CMCH said Huzaifa’s condition has improved compared to earlier. However, a medical board formed to assess her case decided she should be taken to Dhaka for specialized treatment.

Huzaifa was brought to CMCH on Sunday at around 4:30pm. After admission, the duty doctor sent her to the ICU, where she has been receiving treatment since.

The child was shot early Sunday in the Techa Bridge area of Whaikyang Union in Teknaf Upazila, Cox’s Bazar, by bullets reportedly fired from Myanmar.

Huzaifa is the daughter of Jasim Uddin of Lomba Bil village in the area and class student at Lomba Bil Haji Mohammad Hossain Government Primary School.
