Executive magistrates in all six parliamentary constituencies of Khulna have begun their election-related duties under the direction of the Election Commission (EC) to ensure strict compliance with the election code of conduct ahead of the national polls.

On Friday, Khulna Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate A S M Zamshed Khondokar issued an office order assigning executive magistrates to conduct mobile courts in their respective jurisdictions to help ensure a free, fair, neutral, and credible election.

Nazmus Sakib, Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate, said that in Khulna-2 and Khulna-3 constituencies, which fall under Khulna City Corporation (KCC), four executive magistrates have been deployed, with two working in each constituency.

He added that nine Assistant Commissioners (ACs) of lands in all nine upazilas of the district, covering Khulna-1, 4, 5, and 6 constituencies, have also been assigned election duties as executive magistrates.

"The number of executive magistrates will be increased to 24 or more this week. Mobile courts will operate in every constituency to ensure that the election code of conduct announced by the EC is strictly followed by all, including candidates," he said.

The executive magistrates have already started their duties from today and will continue their activities until February 14, two days after the polls.
