A general meeting of the Barind Multipurpose Development Authority (BMDA) for the Thakurgaon and Rangpur Circle offices was held at the Thakurgaon Circle office on Thursday.
The meeting focused on setting targets for operating irrigation machinery, determining irrigation coverage, and collecting irrigation charges for the 2025–26 fiscal year. Officials present included supervising engineers, executive engineers, assistant engineers, senior sub-assistant engineers, sub-assistant engineers, inspectors, electricians, mechanics, assistant mechanics, and mechanic helpers from both circles.
Tarikul Alam, Executive Director of BMDA (Additional Secretary), attended the event as the chief guest. The meeting was conducted by Dr. Abul Kashem, Additional Chief Engineer (Irrigation Wing) of BMDA Rajshahi, and chaired by Shamsul Huda, Additional Chief Engineer of the Planning Division.
Also present were Dr. Iqbal Hossain, Supervising Engineer at the BMDA head office; the supervising engineers of the Thakurgaon and Rangpur circles; and Reza Md. Nure Alam, Project Director and Supervising Engineer of the GDGIP project, among others.
During the meeting, BMDA set upazila-wise irrigation targets for the eight districts of the Rangpur division and urged all concerned officers and staff to make maximum efforts to achieve those goals.
