A foam factory was gutted by a devastating fire at Temuhani on Maijdi Road in Feni on Friday.
Fire Service sources said the fire is believed to have originated from an electrical short circuit at the Madina Foam Factory. The first fire unit arrived at the scene at 8:25 am and began controlling the blaze. The local residents also helped firefighters in dousing the fire.
The factory owner, Rahim Ullah Chowdhury, said, “The fire has burnt all my savings from overseas. The factory, along with bank loans and debts to moneylenders, has been reduced to ashes. I am now completely destitute.”
He added that the factory had also been destroyed by fire in 2022, and this second incident has left him fully devastated.
The fire spread quickly, destroying machinery, raw materials, and finished foam products. The Fire Service managed to bring the blaze under control. No casualties have been reported so far. Investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause and extent of the losses.
