A schoolboy has beaten to death allegedly by another schoolboy during a badminton match in Gopalganj.

The deceased was identified as Yasin Sheikh, 12, a student at Boraihati Ideal High School.

The incident took place around 8:30pm on Tuesday on a sand field beside the ‘Borobari’ area of Boraihati village in Dignagar Union under Muksudpur upazila. Yasin died at around 1:15am while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

Eyewitness Rabbi Sheikh, a class 10 student at Boraihati Ideal High School, said Rifat and three others were playing badminton while Yasin and several other boys watched. Yasin punched Rifat after he lost the game.
