Indian national among 6 detained at Dinajpur border

The 29th BGB Battalion Commander, Lt. Colonel A.M. Zaber bin Jabbar, confirmed that the Indian national had been intercepted while attempting to smuggle them into India

A team from the 29th Battalion of the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) in Fulbari has conducted an operation and detained six people, including an Indian national, for their alleged involvement in human trafficking. According to reports,  a patrol team from the Fulbari BOP conducted a search at a residence in Rasulpur village, inside Bangladesh, belonging to Jahirul Chowdhury’s son Afit, 14, on Wednesday morning. During the operation, the team arrested Nepali Barman, 29, an Indian national from Margram village in South Dinajpur, India, suspected of human and child trafficking. Five others detained were identified as Joli Rani, 30, daughter of Oman Barman from Shalbari village in Naogaon district, and children Tanushree Rani, 10 and Rajshree Rani, 3, daughter of Mithu Chandra from the same village, as well as Bijon Chandra Das, 55, son of  late Nitai Chandra Das, and his wife Lipi Rani Das, 45. The group had reportedly been brought into Bangladesh for being trafficked into India. The 29th BGB Battalion Commander, Lt. Colonel A.M. Zaber bin Jabbar, confirmed that the Indian national had been intercepted while attempting to smuggle them into India. A case has been filed with the local police station, and the detainees have been sent to jail custody.
