Five members of a family were killed and two others injured in a head-on collision between a bus and a microbus in Chakaria upazila of Cox's Bazar on Wednesday.
The deceased were identified as Rumi Begum, 65, Rizwana Mojumder Shilpy, 55, Farzana Mojumder Liza, 28, Comilla University student Sadia Patwary, 23, and Chittagong University economics student Farzana Mojumder, 24.
The victims were travelling to Cox’s Bazar for a family trip from Uttara, Dhaka. Uday Patwary, who works for Malaysian Airlines, had arranged the trip.
Police said the vehicles were badly damaged. The injured were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex and later shifted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital.
