The Indian Border Security Force (BSF) has reportedly pushed in 70 individuals through four border points in the Sylhet region. The push-in occurred on Wednesday night and early Thursday morning through the Sylhet and Sunamganj borders.
Among those pushed in are 22 men, 18 women, and 30 children. Of the 70 individuals, 43 are from Kurigram and 27 from Lalmonirhat districts in Bangladesh.
According to the Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), the BSF pushed in 17 people through Mukhampunji, 23 through Minatila in Jaintiapur upazila, and 13 through Kalairag in Companiganj upazila of Sylhet district.
Additionally, 17 individuals were pushed in through the Noakot border in Chhatak upazila of Sunamganj district. After entering Bangladeshi territory, they were detained by BGB personnel.
Lieutenant Colonel Md Nazmul Haque, commanding officer of BGB Battalion 48, confirmed the incident and said that BGB has intensified patrols along the border to prevent illegal intrusions.
Legal action has been taken against those detained.
