Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) cleared all sacrificial animal waste well before dawn on Sunday, following Eid-ul-Azha.

“We aimed to complete the cleanup by morning, but it was done much earlier,” RCC’s Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun told BSS.

Waste was collected door-to-door by 6pm on Saturday, transferred to 28 secondary stations, and then moved to the central landfill near the city hat by midnight.

The operation involved 1,394 workers and utilized 15 hydraulic trucks, six tractors with double trolleys, two steam rollers, two water tanks, and 400 vans across all 30 city wards.

Bleaching powder and disinfectants were applied to eliminate odors and maintain hygiene.

Mamun thanked residents for their cooperation, noting that public awareness has improved significantly.

“Over 95% of areas are now clean and odor-free,” he said.
