On the day of Eid, many people travelled to return to their homes, resulting in 21,198 vehicles crossing the Jamuna Bridge and generating toll revenue of Tk14,772,300.
According to the Jamuna Bridge authorities, from Friday midnight to Saturday midnight, 21,198 vehicles crossed the bridge.
Of these, 10,098 vehicles were heading towards the northern region, contributing Tk6,686,650 in tolls.
On the other hand, 11,100 vehicles were heading towards Dhaka, from which Tk8,085,650 was collected in tolls.
The bridge authority also said that during the six days of the Eid travel period, a total of 255,220 vehicles of various types crossed the Jamuna Bridge between June 1 and June 6 (until midnight).
This generated a total toll revenue of Tk192,573,850.
Notably, last Thursday saw the highest number of vehicles ever crossing the bridge in a single day—64,283—marking a record since the bridge's inauguration.
Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, executive engineer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority at the Jamuna Bridge site office, said that during the Eid travel rush, 18 toll booths were operational, 9 on each side of the bridge.
Among them, 2 booths on each side were specifically designated for motorcycles.
