Jamuna Bridge sees 51,849 vehicles in 24hrs, generates 3.59C in toll revenue

 A total of 18 toll booths, nine on each side of the Jamuna Bridge, are operating for vehicle passage

As people leave Dhaka ahead of Eid-ul-Azha, the flow of homebound traffic increased on the Dhaka-Tangail-Jamuna Bridge highway on Thursday, although authorities reported no congestion as yet.

Ahsanul Kabir Pavel, executive engineer of the Bangladesh Bridge Authority at the Jamuna Bridge Site Office, confirmed the information.

The Bangladesh Bridge Authority reported that a total of 51,849 vehicles crossed the bridge between midnight on Tuesday and midnight on Wednesday, generating toll revenue of Tk35,983,000.

Of these, 30,845 vehicles were northbound, generating toll revenue of Tk18,497,350.

Conversely, 21,004 vehicles were southbound, generating toll revenue of Tk17,485,650.

Earlier, on Wednesday, 33,564 vehicles crossed the bridge, generating toll revenue of Tk28,663,900.

This represents an increase of 18,285 vehicles compared to the previous day (Wednesday).

Ahsanul said that during the Eid journey, a total of 18 toll booths — nine on each side of the Jamuna Bridge — are operating for vehicle passage.

Among these, two booths on each side are separately designated for motorcycle crossings, he said.

Additionally, continuous monitoring is being conducted via CCTV cameras from Elenga on the highway up to the bridge, he added.
