A man named Sabuj Hawladerwas, 30, was killed in a knife attack by miscreants at the Harijan Colony in Moylapota under Sonadanga Police Station in Khulna city around 10:30pm on Monday night.
Sub-Inspector Abdul Hai of Sonadanga Model Police Station said the victim was employed as a worker at WASA. He was a resident of Sachibuniya.
On the night of the incident, he had come to visit his elder sister’s house located in the Harijan Colony area of Moylapota in Sonadanga. After leaving the house that night, four to five youths suddenly attacked him without warning. One of them struck him below the abdomen with a sharp knife. Sabuj collapsed to the ground as a result.
Hearing his screams, locals rushed to the spot, prompting the attackers to flee the scene. The locals rescued him and first took him to Khulna Medical College Hospital for treatment.
As his condition worsened, he was later transferred to Gazi Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead.
The deceased was the son of Hemayet from the Sachibuniya area.
