Launch services on the Daulatdia-Paturia waterway—connecting Rajbari's Daulatdia and Manikganj's Paturia—resumed on Saturday at around 6:45am after being suspended for 46 hours due to inclement weather and heavy rainfall.
The Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended launch operations on the route from 9am on Thursday to avoid accidents amid bad weather.
Nurul Anwar Milon, manager of the Daulatdia launch terminal, said: “As the impact of the bad weather has subsided, launch services resumed on the Daulatdia-Paturia route after nearly 46 hours. Currently, 20 launches are operating on this route.”
Meanwhile, BIWTC Daulatdia terminal’s Assistant General Manager (AGM) Mohammad Salah Uddin said ferry services on the Daulatdia-Paturia route remained normal.
Although ferry movement was suspended for four hours on Thursday due to rough weather, it resumed later the same day.
There are currently no vehicle queues at the Daulatdia terminal; vehicles are boarding ferries immediately upon arrival. A total of 12 ferries, both large and small, are now transporting passengers and vehicles across the river.
