Chitttagong Hill Tracts (CHT) Affairs Adviser Supradip Chakma on Friday emphasized that development should not be limited to district headquarters but must also be visible across all upazilas within the Chittagong Hill Tracts (CHT) region.

He said this while addressing a workshop organized by the Ministry of CHT Affairs titled "Raising Expertise on Grievance Redress System (GRS)" as the chief guest at the Rangamati District Council conference room.

Adviser Supradip further said that the joy of lifting a thousand farming families out of poverty should outweigh the satisfaction of personal achievements.

He pointed out that if even a quarter of the allocated funds for the three hill districts during previous terms had been properly implemented, the people of the Chittagong Hill Tracts would not be living in poverty today.

He instructed concerned officials to ensure proper monitoring of where and how development work is being executed and to what extent.

He advised all associated with the Ministry of Chittagong Hill Tracts Affairs, Chittagong Hill Tracts Development Board, Chittagong Hill Tracts Regional Council, and the Hill District Councils to always comply with Cabinet directives.

Highlighting the need for quality education in the Chittagong Hill Tracts, Adviser Supradip said that while tribal communities previously benefited from quota privileges, those days are over. "Now, to survive in competition with the national mainstream, quality education is essential."

He also mentioned that livelihood development will be ensured in the region. At the same time, he urged female entrepreneurs to come forward to promote women's self-employment.
