Three workers were killed and three others injured when a wood-laden tractor overturned in the Aryapur area of Baghaichari upazila in Rangamati on Thursday afternoon.
The deceased were Nochan Chakma, 45, Nibaron Chakma, 32, and Lettoudu Chakma, 30, all of whom were workers by profession.
The incident occurred around 2:30pm, confirmed Baghaichari police station Officer-in-Charge Humayun Kabir.
The injured are Suman Chakma, 27, Suhel Chakma, 32, and Dolneye Chakma, 28. All three injured are currently receiving treatment at Baghaichari Upazila Health Complex.
OC Humayun Kabir said: “A tractor carrying firewood was travelling from the border road toward Baghaichari when it lost control and overturned in the Aryapur area.”
He added: “Three workers died on the spot, and three others, including the driver, sustained injuries. Locals rushed to the scene and took the injured to the health complex for treatment.”
Baghaichari Union acting chairman Konkon Chakma said: “The tractor was returning to Baghaichari with a load of timber (long wooden logs) from the border road.”
