Three members of the same family, including a child and an SSC candidate, were killed after being run over by a bus in Kaunia upazila of Rangpur.
Shamsul Haque, station officer of Kaunia Fire Service, said: "Ashraful Islam of the Mahesha area was on his way to Mirbagh Degree College centre around 9:30am with his wife Rozina Begum, daughter Afsana, and two-year-old nephew Rahmat Ali on a motorcycle for the SSC examination."
As they entered the highway, a Rangpur-bound passenger bus ran over their motorcycle. Rozina Begum, SSC candidate Afsana Begum, and two-year-old Rahmat Ali died on the spot.
Ashraful Islam was seriously injured and admitted to Kaunia Health Complex.
He owns the Asik Suta Ghar and Laundri shop in Mirbagh bazar.
With the help of police, the fire service, and locals, the bodies were recovered and handed over to the family.
Kaunia police station Officer-in-Charge Abdul Latif Shah said: "The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to the relatives and motorcyclist Ashraful Islam has been admitted to Kaunia Hospital in critical condition."
The bus responsible for the accident could not be detained, but efforts are underway to locate it.
