On the second day of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC and Vocational) examinations, six examinees were expelled for engaging in unfair practices at examination centres in Nalchity upazila of Jhalakathi district.
Additionally, four more students were expelled from four separate centers in Bhola district for similar misconduct.
The incident occurred on Tuesday at Bharatkathi GR Secondary School and Nalchity Girls Secondary School centres, confirmed Nalchity Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Nazrul Islam.
In connection with the incident, eight teachers—who were serving as centre secretaries and inspectors at Bharatkathi GR Secondary School have been relieved of all responsibilities related to the upcoming examinations due to their failure to properly carry out their duties, said UNO Nazrul.
According to sources from the examination board and the centers, the relieved centre secretary is Firoz Alam, deputy headmaster of Bharatkathi GR Secondary School.
"We are working to ensure a fair and transparent examination process," said UNO Nazrul.
Meanwhile, a total of 1,252 students were absent during the English First Paper examination held on Tuesday under the Barisal Education Board.
According to the board’s examination inspection report, 198 students were absent in Bhola district, 138 in Barguna, 344 in Patuakhali, 157 in Pirojpur, 113 in Jhalakathi, and 302 in Barisal district.
