Rangamati, the picturesque hill district, has become a hub of tourist activity during the extended nine-day Eid holiday.
Visitors from various parts of the country are flocking to this nature-rich destination with their families and friends.
Even though four days have passed since Eid-ul-Fitr, the festive spirit remains vibrant in Rangamati.
Travelers seeking an escape from the urban hustle are embracing the tranquility of nature.
Key attractions such as Kaptai Lake, the Hanging Bridge, Shuvolong Waterfall, Police Polwel Park, DC Bungalow, Bargi Lake Valley, Rajban Bihar, Kaptai Nisarga Pod House, Sajek and the scenic Asambasti-Kaptai Road continue to captivate tourists.
In the past four days, approximately 20,000 tourists have visited Rangamati.
Business owners associated with the tourism sector have expressed satisfaction, with hotel and motel bookings currently at 70-80%, expected to sustain until Saturday.
Md Salauddin, the proprietor of Hotel Cosmos International, stated that there has been a substantial influx of tourists since Eid.
He confirmed that their hotel is fully booked until April 13.
Mrinal Dey, a tourist from Sreemangal, shared that he was mesmerized by the breathtaking scenery of Rangamati.
Meanwhile, Rasheed, who traveled from Chittagong with his family, said that Rangamati is significantly more beautiful compared to other tourist destinations in the country.
Md Saiful Islam, the manager of Sajek’s Kurighar Resort, reported that nearly 5,000 tourists have visited Sajek in the past three days, and their resort is fully booked until Saturday.
Similarly, Rahul Chakma, the organizational secretary of the Sajek Resort and Cottage Owners’ Association, noted a steady influx of tourists, with approximately 2,500 visitors arriving just yesterday.
He further said that resorts in Sajek are fully booked in advance until April 8-9, and business remains satisfactory.
Alok Bikash Chakma, manager of Rangamati Tourism Corporation, reported that approximately 3,000 tourists have arrived daily since Eid, totaling 12,000 visitors over the past four days.
Additionally, various recreational spots in Kaptai have witnessed a significant surge in tourists.
Dr Naina Islam, an assistant professor at Chittagong University, described her experience in Kaptai as remarkable.
Md Jahangir, a boat operator on Kaptai Lake, said that the increasing number of visitors has kept boatmen engaged throughout the day.
Regarding security measures, Md Masud, officer-in-charge of Kaptai Police Station, assured that law enforcement personnel are on duty around the clock to ensure a safe and uninterrupted holiday experience for tourists.
