Leaders and activists of Bangladesh Chhatra League staged a flash procession in Konabari, Gazipur city on Monday evening.

A group of 10-15 Chhatra League members marched through Konabari BSCIC No. 1 Lane, chanting slogans such as “Joy Bangla, Joy Bangabandhu” before dispersing shortly afterwards.

Later that night, Naofil Azad Rafi, general secretary of Konabari Thana Chhatra League, posted two videos of the procession on his Facebook page — one lasting 58 seconds and the other 32 seconds. He captioned the post with “Thank you and gratitude to all of you.”

In the videos, Chhatra League activists can be heard chanting, “Konabari’s soil is Sheikh Hasina’s base, Rafi Bhai is not afraid, we have not left the streets. Sheikh Hasina will come, Bangladesh will rejoice.” Sources said the procession was organized at Rafi’s direction.

Just two days earlier, another similar rally took place in Konabari under the orders of Rakib Hossain, president of Konabari Thana Chhatra League. Rakib also uploaded a video of that procession on his Facebook wall.

When contacted, Abu Mohammad Naser Alamin, assistant commissioner (Konabari Zone) of Gazipur Metropolitan Police (GMP), said: “I am not aware of this matter, but I am looking into it.”
