A college student has been allegedly raped inside a shop in Rajshahi.
The rape survivor was sent to the One-Stop Crisis Centre at Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for a medical examination on Tuesday morning.
The incident took place on Sunday at Chanduria Bazar in Tanore upazila; following this, the survivor's father filed a rape case at Tanore police station the next day.
The accused in the case are Iqbal Hossain, 28, from Deotala village in Chanduria union, his father Ansar Ali, 65, and tea shop owner Abdul Malek, 60, from the same village. They are currently on the run.
According to the case statement, on the day of the incident, the college student was on her way to her teacher's house to collect study materials in the afternoon. On the way, a familiar grocery shop owner, Iqbal, called her. When she entered the shop, Iqbal’s associate, tea shop owner Malek, pulled down the shutter.
Inside the shop, Iqbal allegedly raped the student. After the incident became known, Iqbal released the girl from his shop in the evening.
Later, the accused's father, Ansar Ali, blamed the girl instead and took her back to her family.
Tanore police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Afzal Hossain said efforts are underway to arrest the accused.
