A fire that broke out at the Aminbazar power grid in Savar has been brought under control after two hours of effort.
The incident was reported around 7:15am on Tuesday and was doused around 9:15am.
Fire Service and Civil Defence Inspector (Media Cell) Md Anwarul Islam confirmed the matter.
He said: "We received reports of the fire at 7:15am. Nine fire service units began efforts to contain the blaze at 7:20am and successfully brought it under control by 9:15am.”
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage have yet to be determined.
Meanwhile, power supply has been disrupted across a wide area, from Aminbazar to Shimultola, due to the grid fire.
Sizan Ahmed, assistant general manager (Operations & Maintenance) of Palli Bidyut Samiti-3, said that electricity has been out since 7:15am in Aminbazar, Hemayetpur Tannery Industrial Estate, and Shimultola.
However, he could not confirm when power would be restored.
