Army chief: Young generation can contribute to nation-building

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman has said the young generation can contribute to building a healthy nation and a developed country.

The army chief made the call while speaking as the chief guest at the closing ceremony of Marine Drive Race 2025, under the theme "Ride for Glory," organized for the first time by the 10th Infantry Division of the Bangladesh Army and the Cox’s Bazar district administration in Inani, Cox’s Bazar, on Friday.

He emphasized embracing the "Ride for Glory" message to showcase Cox’s Bazar’s natural beauty globally and promote wellness at all levels.

The army chief continued: “By participating in such competitions, the young generation can contribute to creating a healthy nation and a prosperous country.”

He expressed special gratitude to the foreign participants and hoped that similar competitions would continue to be organized across the country.

The Bangladesh Cycling Federation’s experienced panel of judges provided overall support in organizing the competition.

Participants believe that Marine Drive Race 2025 significantly enhanced Cox’s Bazar’s positive image as a tourist destination while also encouraging public awareness and enthusiasm for maintaining physical and mental well-being.

Winners of the competition

In the Professional (Ages 13-44) 110km category, the winners were:

  • Women’s Champion: Corporal Shilpi Khatun
  • Men’s Champion: Mizanur Rahman

In the Amateur (Ages 13-44) 55km category, the winners were:

  • Women’s Champion: Laura Turrini
  • Men’s Champion: Syed Mubin
