Update : 24 Feb 2025, 04:47 PM

A long traffic jam formed on the Dhaka-Aricha highway due to a BNP rally in Dhamrai, Dhaka, on Monday morning.

The traffic congestion of at least 7-8 kilometers stretched from Nayarhat to Kalampur on the highway.

Since morning, BNP leaders and activists started arriving for the rally called by the party in the Jatrabari area of Dhamrai Municipality.

The increased number of vehicles on the highway led to the traffic jam, causing suffering for the general public.

Observations at the scene showed that traffic was at a standstill on both lanes of the highway.

Vehicles remained stuck, including ambulances.

Passengers were seen leaving their vehicles and walking toward their destinations.

Ramzan Ali, a physically disabled man, had started his journey by bus from Kalampur to Dhamrai but had to get off midway and walk approximately one and a half kilometers.

He said: "I'm returning home after work, but now I have to walk like this."

Laizu Begum, a ceramic factory worker, said: "I left after my shift to go home, but there are no vehicles. Even the office transport couldn't arrive. So, I'm forced to walk."

According to party sources, the Dhaka district BNP organized this rally as part of their central program to strengthen organizational activities, control rising commodity prices, improve law and order, and present their roadmap for national elections.

Enthusiasm and excitement were evident among the party leaders and activists surrounding the rally.
