Students of Sher-E-Bangla Medical College in Barisal continued their class boycott for the fourth consecutive day on Thursday, demanding the immediate end of teacher shortage to ensure the smooth operation of academic activities.
Meanwhile, the protesting students rejected a government notification over the appointment of two lecturers for them.
As they had done on Wednesday, the students again staged demonstrations on Bandh Road and formed human chains in the morning, halting traffic movement.
Two main entrances remained under lock and key and banners reading "Complete Shutdown" hung on the gates.
The administrative and academic activities of the college came to a halt as officials could not enter due to the lock.
The students have been threatening that they will continue the movement until their demand is met.
Currently, 188 out of 334 posts of teachers remain vacant, hampering the academic activities.
