Two people were killed, and another was injured in a head-on collision between an auto-rickshaw and a Mahindra in Bhaluka, Mymensingh.
The accident occurred on Friday at around 10:30am in front of Goari Bhawalia Bazu Girls’ High School on the Bhaluka-Gafargaon road.
The deceased have been identified as Monir Hossain, 40, son of Abdul Wadud from Chandarati Nodir Par area, and Md Hamid, 30, son of Abdul Hai from Satenga area.
The injured, auto-rickshaw driver Md Shahjalal, 40, is the son of Ahmad Mia from Dhalia.
Senior officer Atikur Rahman from Bhaluka Fire Station confirmed the incident, saying: "A passenger-carrying auto-rickshaw heading towards Bhaluka collided head-on with a speeding Mahindra coming from the opposite direction.”
He added: “The auto-rickshaw was severely damaged, and passenger Monir died on the spot. Upon receiving the news, the Bhaluka Fire Service rescued the injured and took them to the Upazila Health Complex, where emergency doctors declared Hamid dead."
Sub-Inspector (SI) Dulal Chandra Kundu of Bhaluka Model Police Station said: "The bodies have been recovered, and legal action is being taken regarding the incident."
