Update : 14 Feb 2025, 12:12 PM

Two Bangladeshis, who were arrested by the BSF (Border Security Force) for illegal entry at the Thakurgaon border, have been returned to the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh).

The information was disclosed by the Thakurgaon 50 BGB through a press release on Friday morning.

The BGB reported that on Wednesday night, around 11:45pm, the two Bangladeshi citizens were arrested by the BSF for illegal entry into India from the Betna border area of Thakurgaon.

The detained individuals are Bikas Shil, 22, and Purn Nath, 26.

Bikas Shil is the son of Dulal Shil from Jogipara village in Ranishankail upazila, while Purn Nath is the son of Madan Nath from the Ranishankail upazila town.

During the incident, three other Bangladeshi nationals who were with them fled towards Bangladesh, as reported by the BSF.

Upon receiving the information, the BGB maintained communication with the BSF to facilitate the return of the detained Bangladeshis.

As a result, on Thursday, a flag meeting was held at the Manikhari location, near Border Pillar 366/2-F, between the BGB and BSF company commanders.

This fruitful meeting led to the return of the detained Bangladeshis to the BGB.

Subsequently, the BGB handed over the two individuals to the Haripur Police Station for further legal action due to their illegal crossing into Indian territory.
