A large number of tourists have arrived in Sajek, known as the house of clouds of Baghaichhari, Rangamati.
According to local sources, on Friday, tourists from various parts of the country had to spend the night on hotel verandas, vehicles, and local clubs, as the resorts in Sajek had no available rooms.
Leaders of the Sajek Resort Owners' Association and owners of several colleges mentioned that Sajek witnessed an overwhelming number of tourists, beyond its capacity.
As a result, around 300-400 tourists had to spend the night outside, while another 300 tourists left without rooms.
Mohammad Saiful Islam, the manager of Sajek Kurer Ghor Resort, said that around four to five thousand tourists arrived in Sajek on Friday, but as all the rooms in the resorts were fully booked, there was nothing they could do.
Mahindra driver Mohammad Jasim Uddin from Khagrachhari Sajek Road mentioned that over a thousand vehicles, including Mahindras, pickups, CNG auto-rickshaws, and motorcycles, entered Sajek from Khagrachhari on Friday, resulting in around four to five thousand tourists visiting.
Rahul Chakma, the organizing secretary of the Sajek Resort and Cottage Owners' Association, said that on Friday, there was an unprecedented number of tourists in Sajek, which would likely exceed five thousand.
He further mentioned that all 116 resort rooms had been booked. The resorts have a capacity of around 3,000 tourists, but due to the higher number of tourists, many had to leave without a room.
Around 400 tourists spent the night on resort verandas and club rooms. Rahul Chakma advised those wishing to visit Sajek to book resorts in advance to avoid inconvenience.
Sajek UP Secretary Bishwajit Chakraborty said that the number of tourists visiting Sajek on Friday was far beyond what had ever been seen before.
