Two passengers were killed in a collision between a CNG-powered auto rickshaw and a passenger bus on the Sylhet-Sunamganj road on Saturday morning, according to the police.
The deceased are Ali Noor, 33, and Jamir, 30, both of whom were passengers in the auto rickshaw.
Family members of the victims said that several people from Ratnapur and Sadekpur villages in Sunamganj Sadar upazila had travelled to Pir Bari in Isbpur village of Gowainghat, Sylhet, for a wedding.
On Saturday morning, they were returning to their village in Sunamganj in a CNG auto rickshaw.
In the Ahsan Mara area, their auto rickshaw collided head-on with a bus travelling from Sunamganj to Sylhet, resulting in the deaths of both passengers at the scene.
Three other passengers, Ali Akbar, Jhanik Mia, and Suman Mia, were injured and initially received treatment at the Sunamganj Sadar Hospital's emergency department.
Later, Ali Akbar and Jhanik Mia, who were critically injured, were transferred to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital for advanced treatment.
Abdur Rashid Sarkar, officer-in-charge of Joykals Highway police station, said: "Two people were killed, and one was injured in the collision between the bus and the CNG auto rickshaw. The bodies of the deceased are at the Sunamganj Sadar Hospital."
